What is AI Roadmap in your Product RoadMap ? Part 1

Now that everyone product is AI-powered (Wink-Wink), and every APP is an AI app ;) Does every Enterprise or startup have an AI roadmap?

I highly doubt it, especially when you consider how hard it is hire AI programmers, AI product managers, and most importantly people who know how AI integrates with Software and Software Business.

I have worked for AI startups and at Enterprise AI companies over the past few years, but it’s very clear, nobody has an AI roadmap.

Let’s list the roadblocks

1. Hiring Talent (as mentioned) above is not easy and is very expensive to retain.
2. No clear vision about why you need a roadmap or AI for that matter.
3. AI needs investment into various areas, most businesses are not ready for it. I know many companies with Billion dollar revenues who call themselves AI just because they have started using AWS and Google AI APIs. Most businesses I know don’t even have AI training budgets.
4. Introducing AI into your business means, you are evolving your business, ready to change business models, ready to revamp your corporate strategy, change the way you innovate and deliver. Most Enterprises are in horror of this. Google itself doesn’t know what to do with Search now that ChatGPt is launching vertical related search engines.
5. AI research is upcoming and constantly changing, having a roadmap means you are constantly researching and developing. This is just asking too much from most startups and Enterprises.
6. Operationalizing AI is not easy, there’s a lot of moving pieces, you can ask any CIO, it’s their worst nightmare.

So what kind of company are you? The one with AI roadmap or the one that uses APIs ?
